Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans became a global sensation, thanks to its sharp lyricism, striking choreography, and guest appearances by SZA, Samuel L. Jackson, and Serena Williams. Known for his brilliant storytelling, Kendrick delivered a Drake diss while also challenging the new U.S. President, who was in attendance. “This is bigger than the music,” he declared, making his performance a cultural statement.
Styled by Taylor McNeill, Lamar’s outfit carried deep symbolism. His bootcut Celine jeans, which generated over $2 million in media exposure, nodded to the Y2K revival, popularized by Pharrell Williams, while also extending his Canadian tuxedo look from the Grammys—a subtle jab at Drake during Not Like Us. His custom Martine Rose varsity jacket, emblazoned with “Gloria”, referenced the closing track of his 2024 album, GNX, personifying rap mastery. He accessorized with a diamond chain featuring an “a” pendant, alluding to his Not Like Us lyric: “A-minorrrrrr.”
Lamar completed the look with a backward cap adorned with a Rahaminov Diamonds “Angel Wing” brooch, symbolizing protection and guidance, and Nike Air DT Max ’96 sneakers in the “Colorado Away” colorway, paying tribute to Deion Sanders.
SZA, styled by Alejandra LaPilusa, wore a custom red leather Born x Raised jacket with “Lana” on the chest—her latest album—and “Crybaby” on the back, referencing one of its standout tracks. Samuel L. Jackson, dressed as Uncle Sam, wore a three-piece red, white, and blue Bode suit, subtly questioning patriotism and cultural division with the President present. Serena Williams complemented the visual theme in a white top, blue jacket, and skirt, while producer Mustard contrasted Lamar’s tailored aesthetic with relaxed streetwear. The dancers, dressed in red, white, and blue, reinforced the performance’s layered message.
Beyond music, Lamar’s halftime show was a masterclass in fashion as a storytelling tool, proving that hip-hop is more than entertainment—it’s a cultural force shaping art, politics, and style. With global acclaim, Lamar solidified his status as one of hip-hop’s greatest, uniting audiences in a performance both visually and musically unforgettable.
