From Imperial Eggs to Modern Luxury Maison

The history of the Fabergé maison represents one of the most fascinating examples of luxury and craftsmanship in European history. Founded in 1842 in Saint Petersburg, it owes its success mainly to Peter Carl Fabergé, who transformed the family business into a symbol of artistic excellence. Thanks to his talent and ability to innovate, Fabergé became official jeweler to the court of the Russian tsars, in particular Alexander III and Nicholas II. It was Alexander III who conceived the idea of a jeweled egg dedicated to his wife, which began the tradition of the jeweled Easter eggs.

These objects, commissioned by the imperial family as Easter gifts, were actual works of art, with precious shells decorated with enamels, rare stones and noble metals, often containing elaborate surprises inside, such as miniatures, mechanisms or portraits. Each egg was unique and required months, if not years, of work by highly specialized artisans.

Today the brand has been relaunched as a contemporary high jewelry maison, keeping alive the artistic heritage of Peter Carl Fabergé. The current collections include rings, necklaces, bracelets and watches, characterized by vibrant colors, enamels and precious stones and a sophisticated design that recalls the original style. Reinterpretations of the famous Fabergé eggs stand out, offered as pendants or egg-shaped objects in limited editions. From an economic point of view, the brand is considered a niche luxury brand, producing limited volumes and focusing more on exclusivity than quantity. Fabergé invests heavily in heritage marketing, therefore in the enhancement of its history linked to the imperial eggs and the family of the tsars. In 2025 the brand was acquired for about 50 million dollars by a private investment fund, an operation that confirms its symbolic and historical value.

The Fabergé maison represents a bridge between past and present, preserves the myth of its legendary creations, and renews itself in the world of modern high jewelry.
