Once upon a slipper: a Cinderella story by Jimmy Choo

Once upon a slipper: a Cinderella story by Jimmy Choo

Author: Martina Lelli

In its latest pre–spring/summer 2025 collection, Jimmy Choo invites us into a whimsical yet empowered fairytale. At the heart of this narrative is the “Bing Daisy 100”, a metallic mesh mule embroidered with floral motifs and scattered crystals—an ethereal design that seems to float between dream and reality.

The shoe is more than an accessory. It’s a continuation of a story Jimmy Choo began telling nearly a decade ago, when it first introduced its now-iconic crystal pumps. These creations evoked the shimmering elegance of the “Cinderella myth”, not through literal interpretation, but by offering modern women their own version of the “glass slipper”—a symbol of confidence, transformation, and desire.

The Bing Daisy mule is the latest chapter in that tale. Delicate yet architectural, romantic yet bold, it captures the paradox that defines luxury in 2025: the balance between softness and structure, fantasy and function.

But Jimmy Choo doesn’t stop at enchantment. This season, the brand enters a striking creative dialogue with Jean Paul Gaultier in a capsule collection that celebrates couture irreverence. From tattoo-printed stiletto boots to corset-style slingbacks and sculptural wedges engraved with the Tour EiffelorBig Ben, the collection redefines statement footwear with a playful, almost rebellious twist.

The collaboration is both nostalgic and provocative. It fuses Choo’s precision and femininity with Gaultier’s legacy of disruption. The result? Shoes that challenge convention while remaining unapologetically glamorous.

As Sandra Choi, Jimmy Choo’s creative director, notes, the project is “about exploring different facets of identity.” It’s this ability to move seamlessly between dreamlike elegance and subversive glamour that defines the brand’s evolving DNA.

Whether it’s a crystal-embroidered mule evoking a fairytale past, or a sculptural heel reflecting urban grandeur, Jimmy Choo continues to craft not just footwear, but fantasies in motion—stories that women wear, rewrite, and own.
